Barrocal Traditions

Come and walk “Between the Barrocal and the Mountain”, and discover traditions that were lost and reborn in the valleys of Sarnadas.

PRLLE 15 - north route - Sarnadas

Sarnadas, a village in the parish of Alte (Loulé), is a land of mountain traditions, with esparto grass craftsmanship as the focus of this village, where you can feel the atmosphere of the Serra do Caldeirão.

This 10km route winds through the typical hills of the Algarve's Barrocal region, dotted with various shades of green and the colors of seasonal flowers! At the highest point, there are breathtaking views that reach the sea.

After lunch, the artisans from Casa do Esparto share the techniques of this traditional art, their knowledge and stories of the village, leaving us with full hearts and a piece of art in our hands. It's an authentic and unmissable experience!
