Your journey begins and ends in the picturesque traditional village of Benafim, a hidden gem in the Algarve’s hinterland. On a scenic 5km (3-mile) walk, we’ll cross the stunning Nave dos Cordeiros, wandering through traditional orchards, ancient cork oaks, and local vineyards.
As we navigate the rolling hills and traditional stone walls (valados), you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views over the Barrocal valleys and the whitewashed charm of Benafim. Get hands-on and learn the traditional varejo (harvesting technique) of the carob bean. Discover the fascinating history and global importance of this Algarvian superfood.
A Taste of Tradition: We wrap up the morning gathered around a table filled with authentic local delicacies, where the Carob is the undisputed queen of the feast.
